Medical I-Ching (Chinese)
The I-Ching (also called "Book of Changes") is the oldest of the Chinese classic texts. A symbol system designed to identify order in what seem like chance events. This course covers introduction of I-Ching, hexagram reading, I-Ching's philosophy and the relationship between I-Ching and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Students will become familiar with I-Ching and understand how Traditional Chinese Medicine works under the philosophical instructions of I-Ching, and how to apply this knowledge in their further TCM practice.
Instructor: Jiang, Jian Yuan (Jerome) L.Ac.
Dr. Jiang earned his Master of Arts degree from East China Normal University in Ancient Chinese Culture and Classics. He has been teaching Chinese classics and culture for more than 30 years. He is also a licensed acupuncturist and Dean of Academic Affairs in Alhambra Medical University. Medical I-Ching is one of his famous classes which has been offered to students of Emperor’s College, Yo San University, South Baylo University, Alhambra Medical University, and the acupuncturist of San Diego Acupuncture Association.

This class discusses the etiology of wrinkles and several other skin disorders on the face, and how to improve those conditions and delay the aging process by applying the Acupuncture Face-lift techniques and Facial Tui-Na massage, according to the theories of Tradition Chinese Medicine. Acupuncture Face-lift ,or Acupuncture Facial Rejuvenation - is finding its way into an increasing number of full-service spas these days. This new modality can enhance not only the physical appearance but also the overall health.

Dr. Chen received his Chinese Medicine education in Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine in China, and has over 30 years of experience practicing Chinese Medicine in both China and the United States. He is currently a Professor of TCM Dermatology in Dongguk University Los Angeles, and has his own clinic in San Gabriel CA

Qigong is a practice of aligning breath, movement, and awareness for exercise, healing and meditation. Qigong is traditionally viewed as a practice to balance Qi or intrinsic life energy, and nowadays considered a part of alternative medicine and believed to help develop human potential and to awaken one to one's true nature. In this class, Dr. Li will present his research projects and his findings on Qigong over the years, and how to utilize and apply Qigong in the TCM practice.
Instructor: Li,Youfu, OMD, L.Ac.
Dr. Li is an internally recognized Qigong Master and Martial Artist. He was the Champion of the World Cup of Chinese Martial Arts in 1995. Dr. Li was a Research Fellow in “Human Body Science Research Center” in Beijing China and conducted several research projects on Qigong and its effect on the human body. Dr. Li now continues his practice and research in the United States and has been teaching in several TCM colleges in the Los Angeles area, and currently a faculty member of Alhambra Medical University.

Treating Diabetes with Chinese Medicine
According to the World Health Organization, at least 171 million people worldwide, or 2.8% of the population, suffer from diabetes today. The disease is increasing rapidly, and it is estimated that by 2030, this number will most likely double. In this class Dr. Zhang will discuss the dominant factors and the secondary factors in syndrome differentiation, and introduce effective formulas and herbs for treating diabetes. Successful clinical cases will also be analyzed and discussed.
Instructor: Zhang Ji, OMD (China), L.Ac.
Dr. Zhang graduated from Nanjing University of TCM in China and became an instructor/Doctor in Nanjing University of TCM in 1983. His specialty is research and clinical application of Chinese herbs. Dr. Zhang joined the writing group to edit the biggest herbal medicine dictionary in the world, which included over 10,000 herbs and was published in 1999. Dr. Zhang has 30 years of clinical experience and is currently a faculty member of Alhambra Medical University, Emperor’s College, and Dongguk University Los Angeles.

Acupuncture insurance billing is about reimbursement getting the money to your office and getting it there as quickly as possible. In this seminar, students will learn the common rules and regulation in the healthcare system, how to verify patients’ health insurance benefits, preparing the claim forms, read and understand the EOB, and how to handle worker’s compensation insurance. Students will also learn how to process private insurance and accident injury cases.

Dr. Chan received his MSOM from Dongguk Royal University and Ph.D. from American Global University. He is the CEO of Institute of TCM Seminars and serves as the admission officer of the PhD program of American University of Complementary Medicine. Other than teaching in Dongguk University Los Angeles and Alhambra Medical University, Dr. Chan also has a private practice in the San Gabriel Valley.

Make Your Own Moxa Stick & Pressing Moxibustion
Pressing moxibustion was the original method of using the moxa stick. It is a much more efficient method of delivering focused heat and moxa qi than suspended moxibustion. In this class, students will learn how to make their own moxa sticks and medicated cloth, with high quality moxa floss and medicinal powder. Also, peach twig moxibustion as discussed in Ben Cao Gang Mu will also be briefly examined.
*Materials fee required for this seminar: $5.00

Dr. Wilcox has been a licensed acupuncturist in California since 1989. She is on the faculty of three schools in the Los Angeles area and is the author of two books on moxibustion (Moxibustion: The Power of Mugwort Fire and Moxibustion: A Modern Clinical Handbook). Lorraine loves to find different moxibustion techniques from the old Chinese books and try them out. She also likes some of the modern innovations in moxibustion from Korea and Japan, the ones that do not involve electricity.
